MacBook Water Damage: Why Immediate Action is Critical

Liquid damage rarely destroys a MacBook instantly. What destroys it is the slow electrolysis that begins the moment power touches wet copper traces — corrosion spreads outward from the spill point for hours and days, eating through pads and via paths.

The single most important thing you can do after a spill: power off immediately, do not press the power button to 'see if it works', and bring it in within 24 hours. We open the chassis, disconnect the battery, and ultrasonically clean every affected board in a heated isopropyl bath.

Recovery rates at our Lahore lab: <24h after spill 92%, 24-72h 71%, >1 week 38%. Data recovery from physically damaged SSDs is a separate process and we usually succeed when the controller IC is still intact.
